Delivery confirmation and insurance at our expense. An unusual book with it's sheets done in a style I have rarely seen. Cartographic binding is unfamiliar to me so will describe it to death. Various small notes penciled 1st endsheet, dated 1853. Book measures @ 8 3/4 X 6". Books date is 1850, half bound in leather (spine and diagonals at board tips) with major tip abrasion and bumping. Balance is cloth with center front paper label and plain spine, a bit chipped at top and bottom. Cloth has much age appropriate scar and light stain. Text's index concludes at page 34. TOC lists 21 plates and all are present. The folded sheets of map are laid in at their center and twixt each are the sheet ends. The foxing is hard to describe as it varies from the heaviness of the pastedowns and endsheet to minimal on versos of most of the maps. Certainly some is present on the maps, but rather minimally so. The text is a trifle rumply but only as appropriate to its character and age, an occasional smudge, mark or short tear is present but mildly so. Foto to come shortly.
