Sherlock, William A Second Letter to A Friend Concerning The French Invasion Near Amen Corner London Randal Taylor 1692 2nd Edition Hardcover Very Good- None Book Fascinating and sturdily restored pamphlet. Black cloth boards with gilt stamped spine label, 32 pages paginated with endsheets replace in the restoration. Not badly foxed fully legible, collation is quarto and commences with B. Some trace wear, dogearing very minor. Surely complete as title page progresses to 1st paginated page. The previous owner has pencilled twice as was his custom. The first end sheet (a replacement) has his notes, Sherlock's name, Wing #, institutional placements, small, neat, and Sherlock's name is lightly done on title page. Page prior to tile page says "June 2d. Let this be Printed Nottingham." Oddly the first blank, original endsheet has what looks to my eye to be a centuries old list of 18 notes neatly penned on it in the pale brownish ink I associate with pre 1800 writing. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Books listed by Brass Dolphin are so described, and graded, using the strict, traditional standards. For this reason, we have virtually zero returns.* Price:

Sherlock, William The Case Of The Allegiance Due to Soveraign Powers London For W. Rogers 1691 1st Edition Hardcover Very Good- No Jacket Book Balance of title and printing data,"Stated and Resolved, according to Scripture and Reason, and the Principles of the Church Of England, with a more particular Respect to the OATH, lately enjoyned, of Allegiance to Their Present Majesties K. William and Q. Mary.---London: Printed for W. Rogers, at the Sun over against St. Dunstans Church in Fleet-Street 1691. ' Wing # given in collectors notes is S3269, and collation is quarto, correct per Wing. Boards measure 8 x 6", text measures 7 3/4 x 5 1/2, 66 pages paginated + 1 advertisement. Pamphlet reworked as book with gray hardcovers, new pastedown and endsheet followed by Title page (verso blank but with long ancient inked inscription by a Mr. Brown, some odd allegory twixt the trinity and Sherlock's oath of fealty to two kings) followed by 6 page preface and 2 page TOC. Text commences at page 1 with no faults of pagination noted. The text edges are stained red, top darkened and the margins seem uniform, unsure if they have been cropped but they have unusual degree of uniformity. Seemingly the same hand which penned the inscription has penned an X or 2 on many pages, perhaps to mark his progress in the reading. The text while legible is somewhat rough, has trace foxing, the odd mild crease, mild age darkening at edges. The boards have a newish look (grade above may be though as compromise between boards and text) black spine label with gilt, but, perhaps stored flat as there is trace cocking. Book so slender as to make this hard to see. Domestic shipping at our customary one book price. We provide delivery confirmation and insurance at our expense on all items over $75.00. Price:
